Chief Executive Officer
Declan O’Mahoney is an entrepreneur with extensive international experience in the high technology sector. Most recently, he was the chief executive officer of Firecomms, a global leader in the provision of fiber optic solutions and optical transceivers, leading it to become Ireland’s first high-tech company to be acquired by a Chinese corporation. As CEO at Firecomms (from 2002–2010), O’Mahoney attracted major investments from Irish, European and Japanese venture capitalists and strategic partners. He also led the expansion of the company’s business to a global marketplace, particularly in the automotive, communications and medical device markets.
From 1992–2002, O’Mahoney was co-founder and president of Northstar Systems, Inc., which provides custom design and manufacturing services for computing, consumer electronics, etc., with facilities in Silicon Valley, China, Europe and Taiwan.
Chief Technology Officer
Dymphna Donaghy is a seasoned engineering and business professional having held senior management positions in a variety of sectors. Prior to joining HeartSine, Donaghy spent more than 15 years in the medical device industry working for multinationals such as Boston Scientific, and for entrepreneurial startup companies in various technical roles. Dymphna held the position of VP of R&D at her first startup, Labcoat Ltd. a drug coating stent technology company, where she enabled its acquisition by building the technical organization and developed the technology/product portfolio.
Donaghy is a Chartered Engineer with the IEE and holds an MBA.
Raymond Francis “Frank” Flynn
General Manager / Site Leader
Frank Flynn has extensive experience in corporate finance. Before joining HeartSine, he was a financial consultant for a number of construction and property companies, and was Associate Director at PwC, where he participated in the buy-out of AssetCo, a facilities management company focused on the emergency services market. Previously he worked as an Investment Manager at Hambro NI Ventures (now Crescent Capital) and had a role in corporate finance at IDB (predecessor to INI).
Flynn holds a BS Sc Hons in Business and Accounting and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant, Licenced Insolvency Practitioner and an FCA.
Vice President of Marketing & Sales, The Americas
Stephen Garrett is an industry veteran with more than 20 years of successfully representing manufacturers and distributors of emergency medical devices. He has specialized in the public access defibrillator market for the last 10 years building distributor networks in multiple markets and successfully landing many AED notable deployments throughout the United States.
As the director of national distribution for all the Americas, including the U.S., Canada and Latin America, Stephen is one of HeartSine’s top national sales managers, successfully growing the company’s distributor base, and helping build the Heartsine brand-name throughout the Americas.
Director of Global Marketing
René Williams is a seasoned marketing and public relations expert with experience in building international business brands. Prior to joining HeartSine, René ran a marketing consulting firm that provided marketing services to high-tech firms in the U.S. and Europe, successfully implementing an extensive range of highly effective marketing strategies globally.
Earlier in her career, René oversaw the Marketing Services department for Ericsson, Inc., where she managed a series of product roll-outs in the U.S. and was a member of the global product launch team.
René holds an MBA and a undergraduate degree in Communications.
Hugh Hennessy is a sales and marketing veteran with over 20 years senior management experience. Hugh joined HeartSine from Firecomms, a global leader in fiber optic transceiver solutions, where he led the global sales and marketing team. Following Firecomms’ acquisition by a Chinese corporation in 2010, Hugh continued to successfully expand the company’s product and customer base for industrial and medical device markets. Previously, Hugh held a number of senior management and engineering positions across Europe, Asia and the U.S. with TDK Corp. and Deutsche Telekom.
Hugh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Trinity College in Dublin.
